What Are the Sources that Provide Fluoride?

Posted .

As Dr. Kevin M. Altieri may have told you, fluoride is the key to having strong and successful teeth. In fact, fluoride strengthens and nourishes your chompers and gives them the ability to fight tooth decay and enamel erosion. To help you expose your teeth to fluoride each day, our dental team is happy to tell you how to access the beneficial mineral.

First, ask for a fluoride treatment at Bellaire Dental Excellence. When you come into our office for your professional cleaning appointment, our team will give you a professional fluoride treatment, which will typically come in the form of a foam, gel or varnish and it will likely be flavored. This will give your teeth the strength they need to survive.

Second, use fluoride oral hygiene products. If you brush your teeth every morning and every night with fluoride toothpaste that has been approved by the American Dental Association, your smile will be exposed to fluoride on a regular basis. Also, it’s best to rinse your mouth daily with fluoride mouth rinse. If you do this, your smile will be thoroughly cleaned and your chompers will be nourished.

Third, use natural fluoride sources. Fortunately, each city provides fluoridated water in their water system, so if you drink enough tap water, you can strengthen and nourish your smile. Lastly, there are some foods that you can consume to help boost your fluoride exposure, like spinach, beets, asparagus, carrots and tomatoes.
